The Perfect Day

by John Williams

On the wrong side of the bed, I woke up.
Trying and failing to pour coffee in my cup.

As for my mood, I tried to reverse, but things just kept getting worse.

I tried to keep a cheery face,
but with bags on my eyes, I had lost my grace.

My bath was cold,
my milk was old,
and I was starting to lose my faith.

I knew everything would be OK,
’cause I saw a dog today.
