Family Time: Free Christmas Decorations

by Max Hart

There are many ways to decorate your Christmas tree for free. There are lots of things you can do, using items found around your house.

You can use fruits that might start to go bad by drying them. To do this, you need an oven and an adult to help you.

Slice the fruit into ¼ to ½ inch slices and preheat your oven to 225 degrees.

Then, line a baking pan with parchment paper and arrange the fruit cut sides up. Make sure the pieces are spaced ½ to 1 inch apart.

The fruit is done when it has shriveled and the edges have dried. After the fruit has cooled it is ready to go onto your tree.

You can also use paper to create ornaments. You can cut pieces of paper to make snowflakes, and you can also create paper chains to go around your tree.

To make a paper chain, you cut your paper into strips, and you fold each piece into a loop. Fold each loop and put tape on the ends so they won’t fall apart. You’re going to keep adding loops to the existing loops until it’s as long as you want and then you can drape it around your tree.

Another thing you can do is cut fabric or ribbon into strips; you can tie them into bows or loose knots. Then put them onto the branches of your tree.

You can also pick flowers from your flower bed or a park. Choose whichever flowers you want, cut the stem off short, or leave it long, and put the flowers in the branches of your tree.

Any of these will make your tree beautiful!
