Tulsa Mission Provides More Than Meals

Advanced Video Production student Cohen Hicks takes us to John 3:16 Mission in Tulsa. The has been around for 72 years. They provide food, shelter and the word of God to the less fortunate. Chris Price is the kitchen manager and today we discussed his responsibilities there. Typically he prepares, orders, and makes sure they have enough food. At John 3:16 they also have a program that helps their guests get back on track in life. Typically, they will have about 15 of these guests help in the kitchen. These workers are taught how to cook and get their food handlers card.

At John 3:16, they serve about 14,000 meals per month, and of that 14,000 meals they prepare 56,000 portions of what they're serving.  They purchase cooking supplies and food from Ben E. Keith Foods. They also receive donations from the BOK Center in Tulsa as well as Wal-Mart, Reasor's Foods, and Tulsa area food banks. Chris expressed how much he loves his job and that while it is a job, it’s also a calling to serve others and show them the love of God.
