From August to December, Friday nights in Oklahoma mean football.
High school football.
Last week, the Oklahoma City Patriots — part of the Oklahoma Christian Home Educated Football Association — locked horns with the Blackwell Maroons in Oklahoma City. The Pats came out on top, defeating Blackwell 22-6 and winning their home opener.
Head coach Chris Toney told the Pats website that his team really answered the bell after halftime.
“We really challenged the boys at halftime to come out and play like we did last year against DASCHE,” Toney said. “They really answered the bell on both sides of the ball. We are really thankful that they made that stand in the third quarter. They stood strong and did what they needed to do.”
The win puts the Pats record at 1-1. They travel to Norman this Friday to face Community Christian School at 7 p.m.
